The Vardhman  Mahaveer  Open   University   started  its  Central  Library during  the year 1987-88 but its actual functioning  started in July 1988. The primary mission of the Library is to support the educational  and research programs  of the  University by providing physical and intellectual access to information in accordance with the objectives of the University, the Library aims to develop a comprehensive collection of documents useful for the users.

The Library has important sections such Acquisition, Technical, Circulation, Periodical, Stack, Reference, Computer Lab, Audio-Visual etc. most of the sections are equipped with basic infrastructure. The Central Library is working in a beautiful round shaped building having total built up area of 2036.00sq.mt.

Composition of library system

V M Open University operates through a three tier system having University headquarters at Kota, 07 Regional centers  and 84 study centers spread  in all over  state Rajasthan. Central Library at headquarter  Kota to meet out  the needs of  the headquarters teaching and non-teaching staff, research scholars, students, special members etc.

Students of VMOU  are distant learners  scattered in all over the state of Rajasthan. The libraries at  Rc’s look into the library requirements of staff, students, counselors and coordinators at the Regional Centers.

Opening Hours

The Central Library opens all days except on the University holidays. It works between 10.00AM TO 5.00 PM.

Collection

Library has huge collection on Humanities, Social Sciences, Science & Technology disciplines, this includes Reference Books, Text Books,  Journals,  Competition Books,  Theses,  Dissertations, CD’S of Books, Bound Volumes of Journals, Audio-Visual Cassettes etc. It has  special collection on Education and Distance Education.

Special Collection on Gandhi

Library has special and valuable collection of Books and  Reference Books on Mahatma Gandhi.
